BIOGRAPHY

Francia McCormack is an artist based in Stone Mountain, Georgia, in the United States. She is a visual and literary artist who uses various mediums to create art representing the beauty in Blackness, nature, abstraction, and emotion.

 

With 30 years of experience, Francia McCormack specializes in making sculptures, collages, paintings, and written pieces. Francia's art reflects her lof of nature, her Jamaican American roots, anthropology, and the uniqueness of the human form.  Francia aims to create awareness and appreciation for the African Diaspora's contributions to American culture and society through her art. She believes art educates, inspires, and brings people together, regardless of their background or ethnicity.

Francia challenges what is considered beautiful in the feminine form by thinking of ancient and ancestral forms dating to prehistory. She's searching for inspiration from the soul and finds peace in creating original, imaginative pieces - each unique. Yes, she has themes, but she takes pride in creating original pieces fresh, and never seen before. She finds similarities in mountain ranges and the curves of a woman's back, for example, and reflects them in her pieces. She refuses to settle on one medium and enjoys creating abstractions and depictions of people and nature. Francia takes pride in being skilled in many techniques after decades of practice. She often has written components to her artwork and enjoys blending writing and art in her pieces.
